Potting soil mix advice

My local hydroponics store has clay pebbles coco coir and perlite. Would you guys reccomend this more than say a peatmoss perlite mix? If so do you just mix the pebbles in the soil so it’s all even with the coco coir etc? I want to make some changes this year to my program

I just bought a coco chips instead of coco coir. I think pure fine coir gets too dense and holds too much water even when other rocky drainage is applied.

I thought that its water retention. Was less than peat but more oxygenating

Found my hydroponics one stop shop. Good deals compared to amazon as well

Get regular "garden soil" & Turface MVP. Mix it 50/50 & add some of the clay pebbles. It's the best I have found for potted palms.

While you are at it Ricky, you might want to sort the palms into a few groups of ones that prefer more or less water and make your mix appropriately.

As for the mix, I agree with Laaz.

We don't have many indoor pots anymore, they are almost all outside now but in or out that mix has worked fine for us for more than a decade. Even straight potting mix works fine for years, you just have to watch it and change it when it finally collapses and gets soggy at the bottom. Mixing in the other stuff just helps to prevent this soil compaction.

 But really I reckon that whatever you do will be just fine considering how closely you are monitoring the plants.

One big change for my little guys is the clay balls st the bottom now. Even with a ton of holes a few of my seedlings bottom roots got a spot of rot from the excessive moisture. Hopefully these changes work well

For larger pots I put larger perlite/pumice, etc in it.  Amazon has awesome perlite deals.  The Turface MVP is awesome as I now have a bag.
