Golden New Verschaffeltia splendida Leaf

Loxahatchee Adam

Recommended Posts

New golden green leaf opening on Verschaffeltia.  Far west Loxahatchee, Florida, USA.  About 20 miles (32 km) inland from the Atlantic Ocean.  It’s been in the ground a few years and has been fine with mid-upper 30s F (2-3 C) multiple times.   Our cold nights typically warm up at sunrise.  It has overhead shade from nearby Dictyosperma which mitigates frost risk.

On the advice of someone (forgot who...but it was great advice) I planted the palm deep at the time.   All the stilt roots were buried in sand until the base of the palm was level with the ground.
