A coworker of mine gave this to me from her office at work. I took it home. Is this a type of philodendron? Almost like a rubber plant? Any idea?

Yep, Rubber Tree, Ficus elastica.. They'll grow here ( have seen a couple small specimens in yards here in Chandler) but start them in some shade ( esp. important in summer ). Can get massive.  Don't plant anywhere near the house / anywhere roots can wander seeking water..

Interesting. Knowing that I may just keep it potted up!
