New garden after 10 months in Cape Coral

Recommended Posts

Palmaceae

Hello all, as some may remember we had to move to another house in the Cape last April, so had to leave most of my palms at the old yard. But we did move 52 of the smallest palms to the new garden, plus aquired many more palms and plants since then. Things are starting to take off so by the end of this coming summer the garden should be looking good!

I do miss my old garden as it was getting very mature but it was fun to start a new one.

The new garden has 97 species of palms, my old garden had 150 species (thank God the new owner of the house kept all the palms). Since I have been sick since July (non-stop migraine, as of today have had it for 204 days) I will probably not get to that 150 species again, too much work and not feeling well!  Can't even cut the grass anymore, which I don't mind :D.

So sorry to hear about your migraine! Must be awful!

You have a good attitude to see any glimmer of the positive with getting out of mowing the lawn. Please post when you are finally headache free!

Your new garden looks wonderful with so many special selections. Congratulations!

Thank you Cindy, yes it is awful. But God gives me strength to keep going. I have not been on here as often as I cannot tolerate being on a computer or tolerate doing anything actually.

Been to all kinds of doctors and now seeing a headache specialist in Tampa. I found it very strange that doctors do not really understand migraines. They have given me just about every medication in their arsenal but to no avail, now they tell me it may never go away. Not good to hear that from a doctor !

Thank you for the nice garden comment!

That's a beautiful selection of palms and some great arrangement!  I too am working on hiding the house, shhhhhh don't tell my wife!  (Today she said, "Hey if this stuff grows and fills in, we won't have our neighbors looking through the house anymore!"  I think she's on to my cunning plan!

I'm so so sorry to hear of your migraine! I suffer from migraines and they make even simply laying in a dark room intolerable. Your new plantings are beautiful. Thank goodness we've had such a mild winter so they can acclimate well!

Thanks Missi, migraines are not fun for sure, especially when it never leaves. I had to put dark tint on my bedroom window and install a darkening shade.

I too am very sorry to hear about the ongoing migraine headache, and pray God gives you continued grace to endure until it comes to an end...hopefully soon!

I must say, especially given the discomfort you must be dealing with, that is a truly epic amount of planting and work in general!  It looks great already, and will no doubt be fun watching this house, in time, disappear too!

Thank you Lisa, most of the planting was done before I got sick so that was good. Thank you very much for the prayer!

Pastor Randy,

it is nice to see your new garden shaping up - give it a little more time and I am sure you will get a bit of your beautiful old garden feelings back.

I am wishing you all the best for your recovery -

best regards

Lars
