Seeds - Allagoptera arenaria

I'd like to plant some Allagoptera arenaria seeds. Do I bury it (how deep)? Do I keep it on the surface, half buried?

How long does it take to germinate?

I've never had good luck germinating allagoptera in a pot. Best way is in a plastic bag with some only very, very slightly damp sphagnum. They will sprout sporadically over the next 4-5 months

I don't know exactly what you mean by spraying it, but I would say no. Just slight moisture in the bag and you'll be fine. Too wet is bad. As soon as they look like the picture above, you can pot them up, half inch under the surface works fine. Good luck, should be easy

I also had very limited success when I sowed 25 seeds in a pot in May 2010. One germinated (leaf at soil surface) in six months, another germinated in 18 months. That was it. The first is now in the ground and has just flowered for the first time. The second is ready to go.

Spraying would be eventually moisturize the bag.

I recently transplanted an individual, but during the process there were lots of root damages. I don't know if it will survive. I've seen in this forum that the species is resistant, so let's pray it works. The seeds are a backup plan.

But if they germinate I intend to plant them along a part of Rio's coast where it was decimated: Saquarema.
