My Licuala mapu keeps flowering but won't make seeds--what can i do?

I have a Licuala mapu planted in the ground and it's already starting to flower consistently.  This is the 3rd time it's flowered but it doesn't really form any fruits and make seeds.

What insects pollinate Mapus?  Is it possible for me to hand pollinate them?  Is there a technique to it (the flowers are really tiny!)  Is there a time of day that pollination should be done?

HELP!!!

I believe that your Lanonia dasyantha 'mapu' is dieocious, meaning that each plant is either male or female. You'll have to inspect the flowers when it blooms to determine which of your plants are what gender. If the males and females don't bloom at the same time, you'll have to collect pollen from the male when it blooms and hand pollinate the female with that pollen when she blooms.

Licuala mattanensis 'mapu’ and Lanonia dasyantha are different genera and species. I thought I read that what distinguishes the two genera is Lanonia are dioecious and Licuala are monoecious.

Gene, sorry, not much help here. My 'mapu's’ flower from time to time, but no seed at all.

Lanonia are monoecious also.

Confusion began because the inflos can change from spicate to branched as the palm matures.

Most lanonias(but not all) have a partially split larger central leaflet.

They were split out of licuala by dna testing.

Just a waiting game for seed in the Philippines hopefully

yeah as far as I know Licualas are monoecious.  My other licualas are producing seeds even if they are alone.  This particular one actually made one fruit a while back --all on it's own so I do think I don't need another flowering plant for it to make seeds.  I just want to know how I can help it along to make more fruits consistently whenever it flowers.

I am imagining a whole carpet of Licuala mapus in the edge of my garden.:D

Wishful thinking

I love your posts. These palms look beautiful and wish I had these kinds of problems but mine is not flowering yet. Either give it time or hand pollinate.  Thanks for the beautiful pics
