LIvistona chinensis toxicity

Jason in Orlando

Recommended Posts

The owner of the company I work for up here in frigid Pittsburgh rescued some chinese fans from a job site we're working on, and  he asked me if I thought they were salvageable.  I said probably and he brought them back to be office plants.  The owner keeps his dogs in the office during the day, and his wife asked me if there were any toxicity issues with dogs.  I had never heard of L. chinensis being toxic in any way, but does anyone know this for sure?  Or am I completely wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Jason

I think these site are considering human toxicity, but livistona chinensis is listed as "safe" on them:

The ASPCA keeps a list of toxic and non-toxic plants for cats, dogs and horses.  Here's the list for dogs, there are no real palms on the toxic side.  They don't have any of the Livistona listed, but the actual palms are in the non-toxic section:
