Congratulations! Beccariophoenix alfredii seeds germinated well for me. Grew well, too. Good choice.

@PalmatierMeg thanks. supposedly it's a very rare species. :)

Nice choice. They are rare. If fact, those seeds come directly from Madagascar. There are no B.alfredii outside of habitat that have produced seed.

I just got mine and I'm a bit gutted cos they were stuck in the post. It took them 3 weeks to arrive. Do you think they are still viable? Also what kind of medium did you use? Thanks a lot.

They're bulletproof.

I use a 50/50 peat perlite mixture with mine.  Currently have about 1000 in group plantings....no germination yet.  Had about 60-70% germination rate two years ago with my last batch.  Praying these seeds are good.....

How long to get that big Alberto?

I just planted three (approximately 1.5 years old) out in my yard yesterday.  Super marginal for NE Florida but I'm trying them anyway....

I made a search and I found a topic from 10 years ago, when I showed this same palm  totally defoliated, a few years old stage. I was lucky it recovered! They are +- 14 years since germination.

@Alberto thanks for the update, good to see it recovered nicely.  Where I'm at I have not had a hard freeze and only have seen the upper 20s once in the latest six years, so hoping this trend stays that way and that these along with the others in my collection stay healthy.
