Raphia Sudanica

Saw these available last Summer from Jeff.

I bought a 1 gallon and planted it straight away from the mail into the ground.  Loved FULL Vista sun and not so much the cold last Winter.

I'm not sure what it will actually look like mature. Pictures I found on Internet are not very good.

Others growing this please post info and pictures so I can see one grown up. Here is mine 1 Winter down going into a second.

Another thing, the plant doesn't look all that much like sudanica, which is basically trunkless with longer petioles.

I can guarantee water but warmth might be tough next few months.

Bought as Sudanica from FB.  Only thing I know for sure is that it is different to my Farinifera.

Fairchild, as far as I know, still has some growing. You can see what sudanica looks like on Palmpedia.

It bifurcated....   so safe to say it is a Sudanica.

I've seen a tiny one at Leu Botanical Gardens in Orlando, FL years ago. I wonder if it's still there! Yours is beautiful!
