Hard to tell in pic, but both Chambeyronias opening new red leaf at same time.

Winter isn’t the finest hour for my garden. Hopefully in the spring, it’ll look lusher when my bird of paradise and philodendron sellum pop back up. I am currently growing 7 different species of palms, which is a decent amount by North Carolina standardsA630BD1B-7C73-43B0-9FD0-7124894F0314.thumb.jpeg.7bf7f7eecf838c3663ef36bb6743d89b.jpeg4F40D3F6-685D-48CF-8E23-3F3157AA19E2.thumb.jpeg.8e49ae77a952f415d50666e7419a089b.jpeg524F1792-862E-4D5C-8E46-C1ECECBA6D09.thumb.jpeg.f73851d96e196dbf1f9e754dcfa5fc3d.jpeg

What a difference a year makes. Only 1 night this winter below 40F. Pretty close to scale...the Christmas Palm put on some decent growth in 2018.

These Orchids decided to flower and open up over the last few weeks of this cold weather. I guess they don't mind the cold!FqvahjJZRXmsxroOgyt7gw.thumb.jpg.2d402575b6c5cc632662052476f7ddfe.jpg

I think most Cymbidium orchids actually need the winter chill to bloom.  I have some blossoms still waiting to open on mine, while some of my Laelea flowers are still hanging on.  Next up after the Cymbidium's are late winter, early spring blooms on my Dendrobium speciosum varieties as they too are pushing out inflorescence right now!
