Hope it doesn't get below that @Tyrone.  You're not in winter yet.

3.6C this morning, but mins are definitely on the rise now. The high has gone east.

The last couple of days have been around 24C.

Maxed out at 21.6C / 71F today and currently reading 21.1C / 70F at 6pm. It should be slightly warmer tomorrow but expecting a cold night under the clear skies tonight. My coldest night in over a week it looks like. Probably down to 3C / 40F by sunrise. The sunlight intensity during the clear days allows for rebounds well into the 20's C / 70's F now though.

1614368604_thumbnail_image0(90).thumb.jpg.920302b5ca30ccb8c5a501aab9043c77.jpg

Still no more rainfall since the 1mm / 0.05 inches that I registered a few days back. It seems some places had a 'spitting' of rain yesterday though. Barely enough to register. I'll be lucky to get another 2mm / 0.1 inches in the next 10 days. This run covers the forecasted accumulated precipitation from 7th - 17th of May. Exceptionally dry in the south/southeast of England.

Agriculture is struggling here...

As is my neighbours lawn. About half the lawns on my street look like this and we are still 3 weeks away from the start of summer...

The woods/forest are almost becoming a desert even. We're 73% of the way through spring now and I am on 0.4 inches of rainfall for the entire season, after having a dry winter too. Talk of hosepipes being banned as early as next week.

In the next 4 days we could have had around 70mm of rain. The days have been clear and warm in the low to mid twenties, but the nights have been cold. Down to 4C again this morning. Once the rain is back the nights will retain some warmth, at the sacrifice of day time temps though.

Currently 12c heading for a cold, wet, dark and rainy 18c. I'm loving this weather, after a long hit summer it's a welcome relief.

Yeah I just saw that on the BOM site. We are exactly the same and have had 12mm so far with no end for a while. I doubt either of our locations will see 18C today though. We may hit 13C.

A sizzlin' Sunday afternoon around the Low Desert.. Currently 106F in the neighborhood, and above 105F in many spots around the east valley..  A few neighborhood stations eclipsing the 110F mark as well.  Roughly 5 or 6 days ahead of what is considered average for our first 105- 105F+ readings for the year, and a touch warmer than about the same time last May.

Phoenix at Sky Harbor also topped 105 about half an hour ago as well.

Still an hour or so to tack on a couple more deg.  Nothing lower than the mid 60's in town thru the week, before a possible run of low 70s for next weekend / start of the following week..

Might cool off for a day or two later this week, ..to 98 or 99F.. before heading back to the 100-107F range later.

Sizzle now = rain later ( ..Hopefully, lol )    ..So Bring on the heat!

It was in the 90s today, with the thermometers throughout the yard pegged at 95F.  Then we had a T-storm and it dropped to 68F in roughly 90 minutes.  Didn't think temperatures in the high 60s could feel so cold.

100F at 10 till' 2PM.. Hot, but better than 106F ..in mid - May.. Probably tack on a deg. or two before Sunset.

Stays hot, but not too bad for most of the current 10 day.. We'll see how much sizzle returns next week. Maybe some more subtropical clouds in the sky too..

Looking out over the horizon a little more:

More encouraging signals for ..at least a decent ( if not wet ) Monsoon season ahead.. Obviously,   Not  a guarantee,  Keeping the fingers crossed.  Anticipating additional thoughts from our local Forecast gurus very soon.

E.Pac Hurricane Season is under way.. Though all is quiet out there atm..

Might be something stirring in the GOM though.  Could a  " Atlantic / GOM Hurricane Season 2022 Thread " be Knocking on  @JLM's door? :D

That time of the year to start watching the Gulf ..Of California that is..  again..  Remember, 26C ~in the northern section of the Gulf~ is the magic threshold..  29C ..and above?.. seals the deal..

Have had a few days in the 20s lately, and yesterday morning was actually quite warm around 14C. Glad I let the fire burn out. I didn’t relight it last night and we went down to 7.5C this morning. Going for 21C and blue skies. The rain isn’t back until Sunday night then temps drop again.

The days are short now. You can’t do much after 5pm now and the sun isn’t up here until about 7.20am as I’m in a valley and the sun has to clear the hills. Winter is knocking on the door.

Lol! Not this year, doesnt seem i will have quite as much time to be able to update such a thread this season. I have been watching the signal, and the NHC even has it in their "Special Features" section of their tropical weather discussion. Looks like the GFS, which has been the only one showing development, has completely dropped or pushed the development window back into early June. Also, the GFS and CMC ensembles which have shown ample support over the past several days have also significantly decreased support as well. I would expect more development potential on the Pacific side, although this CAG looks to get shoved into Central America and will probably stay there.

Yea, lol.. most knew this was another GFS " fantasy land  " - type of scenario ..Kept watching the more bullish of the runs thinking.. " Wonder if anyone / when someone ~not~  well seasoned in their weather knowledge is going to post a  scare - cast..  Not you of course..   ..but we know there are some around who can be a touch trigger happy..

Agree, if anything early occurs, it likely won't be until sometime in June - at least-.  For now, agree,  Cen. America is where anything interesting should hang out.. We'll see if it spins up anything in the Pacific.   Could give " Monsoonal " moisture over W. Central and S. Mexico a good kick start though.

A beautiful bright sunny day heading for a top of 25c. It was a fantastic morning at the beach, can't ask for much more just 10 days out from the first day of winter. Looking to be a very wet and much cooler week ahead though, BOM are saying Perth could be in for up to 45mm of rain on Monday alone.

A decent evening by mid may standards.. Clear, breezy, and 85F currently. Temperatures should hang in the 90s thru the weekend before the next stretch of 100 / 100+ heat next week.. Forecast still advertising a few days in the 105 - 108F range, but, we'll see..

On a side note, this week's 3-4 week has some early, Monsoonal moisture surge hints in it as we reach the Summer Solstice..

Considering i'm not seeing signs of the " required " stretch of pre- monsoon season 109-115F heat just yet, and many forecasts are a mess atm..  This week's outlook leaves me thinking..

Yea, yea ...just your daily  " Fantasy - Cast "  Right?   ...Though we are rapidly closing in on that  " wonderful "  time of year.... Gotta pay our dues before some relief ( ..hopefully )  sooner or later..  Hooah boy!

For now, 85F atm, on the way to the mid 90s later.. Some subtropical clouds passing through as well. Bulk of that upper level moisture decided to detour through Sonora  ( Mexico ) though.  90s through Tuesday, 100 - 106F beyond that, thru the end of the month.

Maximum of 23.4C / 74F here on Sunday. Some street level parts of London were nudging 25C / 77F. The 24C / 75F at St. James Park is being measured in a big open park.

FTYl20mWYAw7Wmg.thumb.jpg.d6664d3ea52ea63e624e51a468ba79c9.jpg

While it isn't really warm/hot, we have definitely transitioned into summer over the past week or two. I am just loving these long days as the sun doesn't set until 9pm and it isn't dark until 10pm now. Then the sun rises again at 5am, so there is 18 hours of daylight almost. I can get so much done in the garden at this time of year. The sun feels strong and everything is really growing properly now (palms, exotics, tomatoes, peppers, melons, sunflowers etc).

The Met Office station at Manston in Kent has only picked up 94.2mm / 3.7 inches of rain all year so far and we are nearly halfway through 2022. It goes to show just how dry it has been in places. Large swathes of Kent and Sussex are probably on 3-4 inches of rainfall. I am pretty sure parts of southeast England have received less rainfall than southern California this year so far. I believe 1885 was the driest year on record with only 10-12 inches of rainfall for the entire year in the London area.

89F at 10:38, on the way to somewhere in the mid/ upper 90s ( 96 forecast, but could end up a deg or 2 warmer / deg. cooler.

In other news,  ..Today's 12z GFS  " Fantasy Cast "  ..Day #2

..." Bleepin' " heat is still there, If not spread around a bit more:huh: plus this interesting spin ..Pun intended, ..Kind of, lol..

1049149828_Screenshot2022-05-23at10-34-00GFSModel.png.88e1d5941e9367cbde14394edf85cdab.png

Model run sheers off an upper level disturbance that tries to pass over S. Cal / Northern AZ,  then shoving it S.W. of AZ, off the Pacific side of roughly northern Baja / San Diego, ..before moving it back north over coastal California ( Clock-wise around the strengthening Sub. Trop. High settling in over the Southwest.. )  Saw a similar scenario showing up in runs yesterday, but this is more pronounced ( Deeper potential low pressure area / stronger High pressure center over central AZ / N.M.  )

42559686_Screenshot2022-05-23at11-13-22GFSModel.png.92626fc9b9115a4f8f22b5512e87db8c.png

If anything actually occurs, New Mexico may kick off the " opening act " to Monsoon Season ( Rains usually start there first, then work their way west as the 4 corners High strengthens overhead / to the north of AZ / N.M.  and starts pulling more moisture north and west out of Mexico thru June )

Suggested total precip forecast:

1941802636_Screenshot2022-05-23at10-36-41GFSModel.png.393da9beb687ba08e513a45e98e716c1.png

Suggested 700-300hPa Humidity and wind forecast. Can see the Upper Level Low spinnin' off Baja pretty clearly:

1589145080_Screenshot2022-05-23at10-35-07GFSModel.png.cb0fe3578061582664429521462be621.png

While this scenario is likely over done,  ..if not complete gaah' bage..  Far out anyway..  watching it since these kind of UPLL set ups can bring dry thunderstorm activity both to the AZ and N.M. ( Higher terrain / Mountains esp. ), but also to California.. via drawing moisture north and west from Mexico ..at just the right angle.

Considering how dry things are across the region, & the suggested, accompanying widespread heat, ..Well, you know the hazards..  Not a " freak out forecast "  ..Just something interesting to eyeball,  ...until it more than likely disappears from future model runs.
