63F atm ( 8:43pm )

After what looks like another nice weekend ahead, ( Low 80s/ mid 50s)  Pretty impressive.. ( and surprisingly consistent ) pattern change arrives by sometime Tuesday, lasting until possibly late Friday.

After starting out around 80 on Monday, temps crash into the mid/ lower 60s by Thursday / Friday, with potential rain totals for the 3-4 day period possibly topping 1.5" across the valley, possibly exceeding 2-3" in the foothills north/ east of Phoenix proper. Depending on model trends, reasonably possible some of those higher potential totals expand into the lower elevations around Phoenix also, at least according to some recent model runs over the past 24 or so hours.

Regardless of the more enthusiastic possible rainfall totals, we may see more rain across the area in 3 or 4 days, than many areas saw all summer. Second half of the storm, scheduled to roll in Thursday/ Friday, might drop the seasons first real snowfall at / above 7000ft across the state.

Southern California also looks to get in on this 2 part storm, with some impressive looking rainfall totals suggested across the Los Angeles / San Diego area as well, esp.  if more moisture from Tropical Storm Raymond gets pulled northward into the first storm, a cut off low currently sitting just offshore of Ensanada..

Beyond that, at least for the moment, looks like a drier and mild start to the Thanksgiving week. If some of today's more bullish looking model data holds true,  more rain/ snow chances could be rolling into California, then the rest of the Southwest by the start of December.  Slug of colder air that had shown up in some of the earlier model runs, looks to avoid diving south across Calif./ AZ, at least for now.

Looking forward to all the rain we can get.

64 F at 7:12 AM EST. We finally got our first cool breeze with highs in the mid-70’s, fair skies, low humidity and promises of lows in the upper 50’s for all next week. This is California weather!

12z run of the GFS thru 300 hours for the coming week. Thinking this run is a bit bullish this time around but, that's a lot of rainfall potential ( by Arizona standards ) Even if half of those totals pan out.    Cloudy and 64f at 10am.

I was just telling my wife the same thing! It feels just like being in CA. Yesterday felt like Santa Monica, today feels more like Monterey. It would be nice to have this weather year round.

57F with overcast skies.  Sucks when both the high and low temperature are in the 50s, but I'll take it over having frost.

Another warm one here today, not sure what it hot to but very high humidity made it quite unpleasant. Heading for a cool change later in the week, looking forward to it.

69F @ 1:47 pm with the first round of rain and thunder rolling in. Almost dark enough out for the street lights to come on. Overall rainfall totals look to fall in the 1.5-3" range across the Valley with 4-12+" of snow possible in the mountains/ rim country/ Flagstaff area by Friday night.

Looks like our near perfect stretch of  late Autumn upper 70s/ low 80 warmth is outta here for awhile.  62-65f days / 40-48f  lows forecasted the rest of the week, esp. Thursday/ Friday. Get a break over the weekend, with more showers / snow ( Mountains ) possible right around/ after Thanksgiving.  Next Storm(s) forecasted for that timeframe might drag down some colder air as well.

We got our first rain for 155 days. That’s pretty exciting. Pots have been move away from the wall to enjoy it.

How funny, you moved stuff out where it would get wet.  I moved certain things to under my patio, where they will stay dry.

Got that drippy, drizzly, humid  Seattle-ish kind of thing going on outside atm.

Just the Trachycarpus and sabals. The way I see it: free irrigation.
it’s a nice treat for some. Drowning for others.

Odd night in Tampa. 60f at UT, but 50f in Beach Park. :hmm: The temperature variance in the area doesn’t seem to follow any logic tonight. How the heck is USF one of the warmer places tonight? lol

I recorded 49.5 here, how low did it go over there? I think it got a little colder than forecast last night.

Lowest I saw was 48F here on my thermometers.  A few areas here inland could have seen 45F or thereabout.

Not too bad. As I pointed out earlier, it was a strange night for temps here. When I posted the screenshots UT was actually warmer than Anna Maria Island which basically never happens. It wasn’t just a bad thermometer either, quite a few locations were reporting unusual figures.

11C / 52F here at 2am right now. Only expecting a high of 13C / 55F tomorrow though. Mild, overcast and wet.

Chamaerops, Butia, Jubaea, Sabal, Phoenix, Washingtonia, Chambeyronia & Queens all still actively growing though. Both the Filibusta and Filifera are absolutely thriving here, as are Syagrus romanzoffiana and Phoenix Dactylifera & CIDP.

Pretty much everything is far hardier than first thought, especially the Queens and Chambeyronia Macrocarpa. The only real slow grower right now is Trachycarpus Fortunei and Wagnerianus. But they're just slow in general.

It's 50f here currently. I'm noticing lots of mid and even low 40s out in Riverview/Fishhawk.

On the bright side, Shore Acres in St. Pete appears to have a really solid microclimate. Check out how warm it is there relative to a few blocks inland.

668674346_shoreacres.thumb.png.12db42ff85201be0e05e83802381adf2.png

60f is also what St. Pete Beach and Tierra Verde are coming in at right now, along with the notoriously warm Albert Whitted airport. AMI is 62f by comparison.

These temperatures really aren't a big deal, but it's cold enough to glean some insights on different microclimates in the area.

I'm currently in Pittsburgh, PA visiting family, it feels like a winter California day here as well. Like San Luis Obispo, or somewhere on the central California coast. Their lows are a little higher by a degree or two.
