82°F with very high humidity, heat index in the 90’s. Thick clouds racing overhead with glances of sunshine and occasional sun showers. Feels tropical.

Been cooler than normal with a lot of rain.  Some places received as much as 30 inches of rain in 3 days according to this video at Weather.com: Days of Rain Inundate Florida

90° yesterday with some sea breeze storms and a dew point of 80° all day. Should be in the 90°s for the next few days with very high humidity. Great for the plants.

2nd to last Tuesday of the month, and 108F at 8pm, after breaking a record today w / the afternoons 113F ( record was 112 ) Many spots across the state, including higher elevation spots which would usually stay cooler, also broke records today,  including a few that date back to 1928. Bullhead City reached 117F again.  Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter everywhere and we'll likely destroy tomorrows record of 110F since 115F is forecast.  Only saving grace, if you want to call it that, is the abnormally super dry air, and longer evenings ( sunset was 7:07pm tonight ) have allowed lows to fall into the lower 80s / high 70s.  Like last week, cools off slightly for the weekend but still very little chances for rain in sight. For every  run of  the GFS that looks good, the next run or two are exactly the opposite.  Nuke-fest level heat might finally start backing off but we'll see. With this kind of pattern, 100 / 100+ highs might stick around well into September..

Starting to hear just how bad this summer has been both across the state ( Flagstaff is loking REAL bad, normally fares better, even during  monsoon seasons where  lower elevation areas are running below normal ) and in New Mexico.  4 weeks left of summer, Monsoon season ends on the 30th ( of September ) Even if we get a little late season help from the East Pacific, lookin pretty dismal going into fall.  Atm, a good %'adge of longer range forecasts for the winter ahead continue the dry and warm look for the Dec. - March timeframe across AZ and most of CA., not good.  Hearing AZ and Nevada will start mandatory  water rationing ( from Lake Mead ) sometime after the first of next year.  Not that anyone in the DESERT should have a lawn anyway.

Wowzers! Keep an eye out. Usually when you get a very hot summer, you get a very cold winter....

LOL

Wive's tales like this might hold some degree of truth in some places, but not here.  A likely set up for this winter is the Summer of 2017.. We're currently neck in neck for the most # of 110+ days between the two years. Won't be surprised if we eclipse 2017's total by the time October rolls in this year.  Very possible Phoenix sets a new record for # of 100+ degree days this year.  Unlike this year (  so far ) more rain fell during monsoon season in 2017... which was below average.

Winter 2017 / 2018, was  ..hot, by our average standards. No rain either.

Our "cold" winter was last year.  Same w / last year being wet. Repeat of both occuring in the comming months is highly unlikely.

74F (23C) at midnight here. We maxed out at 96F today, off the back of a 97F day yesterday. Officially the hottest Bank Holiday weekend ever. It's also forecast to be 95F tomorrow as well. A few places might get close to 100F.

The last time we had a late 'Indian Summer' heatwave like this was back in 2016. It's rare for these sorts of temperatures to occur this late into August.

Absolutely baking here again today. The third successive day where temperatures have reached 95F (35C) and the 5th successive day where temperatures have reached 32C (90F) in my location. Today has been by far the hottest day of this heat wave, hitting and levelling off around 100F (38C) this afternoon. That is the 3rd time this summer that temperatures have reached 100F (38C) here. Despite large chunks of the summer being somewhat poor (cool, wet, humid, overcast) compared to recent years. But we've experienced large spikes in temperature in late July & late August.

It's a misconception. Inland NorCal is borderline desert. At least here in Livermore where I live, we average 14.46"/year. Which is actually, almost identical to DTLA (14.73"). Was 102° here yesterday, 98° today. The real cool down comes Monday 77°

Here in Darwin, Australia we are having a fantastic period of cool mornings as far as September is concerned
For the stats minded...
We are all impressed with this years 'Dry', yeah ?
So we're at 71 mornings below 20c minimums in 2019... pretty bloody good, éh ?
We remember 'Drys' that extend into September, and no doubt 2019 is a ripper, low humidity, very gusty, windy south easterlies and exceptionally cool mornings on average for the first half of the month.
So....., figures from the Airport since 1941.
Up until this morning, there have been 129 sub 20c Sept mornings in Darwin in 79 years. So not that common actually, 129 out of 2,355 mornings so far....lol !
And in those 79 Septembers, 40 of them have not dropped below 20c.
1940's..... 10 Sept mornings below 20c.
1950's......16 Sept mornings below 20c.
1960's......16 Sept mornings below 20c.
1970's......12 Sept mornings below 20c.
1980's....... 5 Sept mornings below 20c.
1990's,,,,,,, 6 Sept mornings below 20c.
2000's......22 Sept mornings below 20c.
2010's......32 Sept mornings below 20c. ( so far )
The record number of mornings below 20c in September stands at 8 so far in 2019 and 2014, then 7 in 2004 and 2006.
Monthly minimum averages ( Sept ) Darwin Airport.
Mean - 23c
Highest monthly mean 24.9c in 1992
Lowest monthly mean 20.9c in 2004.
Lowest Sept minimum on record - 14.3c in 2006.
Highest Sept minimum on record - 27.2c in 2009.

20C is a pretty good temperature at or below which is starts to actually feel cool, especially to those in tropical and subtropical climates.  Here in the US, I have usually considered below 70F(about 21C) to be the start of "cool" temperatures, so that is pretty close.

It is definitely less hot here the past few days and feels like quite a relief.  Still warm and humid for the plants with some rain, but no longer obnoxiously hot, like May through August was this year and most years.  I remember some Junes that have been very rainy and extremely humid so not all that hot.  Not the case this year.

Below 20c, pull up doona, but leave ceiling fans on....
Below 15c, pull up doona, wear a t shirt to bed and turn fans onto lowest setting....
Below 10c, dunno, its never happened....
Above 20c, under the sheet starkers, fans on flat out and a few beers of a night to get to sleep
Above 25c, toss and turn all night, fans sounding like a Blackhawk helicopter, 6 beer night, and consider turning aircon on.
Above 30c, turn on aircon, then pull up doona in the middle of the night because the room is so cold....
Gotta love the Tropics

been high 50s to high 60s at night and the last 2 days never reached the 80s (came close) but we have mid 80s to low 90s in the remainder of the 10 day. Got a nice cool spell then back to normal. While we are enjoying the cool down this is more akin to later in October. This am was exceptionally cool at 57f currently and a high should be around mid 70s but I wouldn't be surprised if it scratches 80f.

REALLY hoping the real chill doesn't come for another month or so!

75°F and sunny here, the low humidity is making it feel like California. Only 70’s and 80’s going forward, Monday could get near 90°F.

Very dry month by our standards, only 0.33” so far at the airport with no rain expected in the foreseeable future (almost 2 weeks). If it doesn’t rain again this month it’ll be the driest September on record.
