Currently 33F with light rain mixed with sleet. Hopefully the precipitation stops soon and spares me of freezing rain!

49F today, which is a bit below normal.  Another day and we'll back to seasonal temps in the low to mid 50s, but another long dry stretch coming up, so that always increases our risk for frost.  Aside from that nothing scary looking  as we are transitioning to our spring like weather.  Our coldest two months are behind us now.

Bottomed out at 29F and with a frozen bird bath, also have a bit of standing water on the ground left over from recent rains, it did not freeze due to the ground staying warm. Guess my prior season low of 35 was too good to be true.

Currently 25F icebox...widespread 26-27F most elsewhere in Houston (no UHI). Warmest readings 30-32F in Galveston and southern shore of Galveston Bay.

Not last year, but it's a "below average" winter for sure

I only reached 9C / 48F here today and the temperature is absolutely tanking away now under the clear skies tonight. I am down to 3C / 37F at 10pm, so I still have about 9 hours of radiational cooling to go, so there is no way that I will avoid a frost tonight out here in the 'sticks' with no UHI. I'm expecting at least -1C / 30F come sunrise, possibly even colder.

It will be interesting to see just how cold London actually gets though, since the UHI effect is most notable on clear winter nights when radiational cooling is at its greatest. I doubt it will go below 2C / 35F tonight in central and eastern London. The lowest so far this winter at London City Airport is 0C / 32F. I can't see it getting that cold tonight there.

10pm temps around central London... warmest parts are clear to see...

533507367_thumbnail_image2(2).thumb.jpg.995b591d501ec2e53ed398397eb72ba4.jpg

As per normal, east London is pretty much as warm as central London, especially along the Thames...

1400623246_thumbnail_image0(24).thumb.jpg.d6ae0525bcfeb915f3f99823802352db.jpg

The area around London City Airport, which is one of the mildest parts of London...

761767243_thumbnail_image1(7).thumb.jpg.87e059226c2e50b09d803a93eeb993b3.jpg

Northwest suburbs are always the coldest part of London... (there are a surprising number of Washingtonia in this area but not many CIDP)

1096463478_thumbnail_image0(23).thumb.jpg.2e86971e31c4890c9d26eca024f6a8eb.jpg

West and southwest London a bit warmer, but nowhere near as mild as central and eastern London...

1195252303_thumbnail_image0(22).thumb.jpg.b0eaedebe0b273d7df1c392d1a678644.jpg

I am about 10 miles away from the outer suburbs of London and get zero UHI where I am. It is already down to 3C / 37F here and dropping rapidly under the clear skies. While the warmer parts of central and eastern London will stay above freezing, I will definitely drop below tonight. The London suburbs will have a touch of frost as well probably.

Despite 14-15 hours of radiation cooling on Friday night, the lowest it dropped to at London City Airport was 3C / 37F. To the east in central London, St. James Park went down to a chilly 2C / 36F. Most places went down to 1-2C / 35F. None of the outer suburbs actually reached freezing though, even in the northwest of the city, since the mammoth UHI propped up the temperatures. Portland on the south coast of England was the mildest spot on the mainland overnight, only dropping down to 7C / 45F. Isle fo Wight pretty mild as well at 6C / 43F.

By Saturday afternoon daytime temperatures had recovered to 11C / 52F as well in London.

Much milder on Saturday night due to cloud cover, with a low of just 10C / 50F at London City Airport. Lows of 9C / 48F for most of London.

It's about 12C / 54F in central and south London at 1pm on Sunday, but expecting another 15 hours of radiational cooling again tonight under clear skies...

It's also extremely windy here today, possibly my windiest day in about 6-12 months. Gusts up to 50mph even inland. However that is nothing compared to the cyclone that has just devastated Madagascar and felled lots of palm trees. Are those cocos that have come down? Hopefully not Beccariophoneix Alfredii's...?

I visited the tropic of London on Tuesday, or specifically the Richmond area of southwest London. The car said 15C / 60F and I wasn’t anywhere near central London where the UHI is most pronounced. We’re talking microclimates within microclimates.

The forecasted low tonight is only 10C / 50F, the same as last night. Very mild for early February, but we are expecting a cold snap again by the weekend. Spring is definitely within sight now though.

Currently 46F and feels weird to be above freezing at night.

Not sure what is weirder, a night or two in some place like KS where it reaches the mid 40s, in mid- Feb.  ..or 90s around L.A. / San Diego,  and close to 80 at a beach near San Francisco ( Half Moon Bay ),  ..a place that ranks pretty close to the top of coldest places i've visited.. Not because it freezes,  but because it is almost always foggy, w/ a near constant breeze blowing in off the Pacific, esp. this time of year.  Usually have to wait until August / September for " decent " weather there.. ( when you can take off a sweatshirt for more than a couple hours, lol )

Currently 63F with rain.  We must have had some wind overnight because there are a lot of leaves down on the roads.  After the long gloomy cool spell this winter, bring on Thursday and lets get growing!

Another toasty day w/ downtown Chandler hitting 88F.. Rest of town in the mid 80s

Lots of daily/ monthly / all -time records broken up and down the west coast yesterday, inc. up in British Columbia.. Washington state broke a record that had been standing since 1928..  Climate Change will do that..

Some of the record reports around CA.. Can't remember the last time San Jose came even close to 81F ..in Feb.

Today's #'s around Los Angeles/ Santa Barbara..

From yesterday around San Diego. Today's #' haven't all been posted yet..

Also from yesterday, around Fresno/ Merced/ Bakersfield..

Couple more days in the 79-82F range, before a quick cool down mid- week, then a mixed bag of warm / mild as we reach beyond mid month.. Thanks to that minor dip in the PNA forecast suggested in the next few days..

Another warm week ahead for us just to finish off crisping up the last plants desperately clinging to life in the garden.

Man it has been a brutal summer. We’ve been much milder than you but we have crispiness nonetheless.

Well, winter has returned to our region.  We had a great 2-week heat spell.

Almost 2:00pm PST and we're at 12C and raining!

Waiting for the brood/heat lamps to kick in once it dips to 8C.
