I saw these everywhere in southern China last week.

Quantity and color of seed pods on this tree is quite variable.  I saw some that were quite spectacular - completely covered in bright red or hot pink seed pods (I didn't get a photo but the intensity of color was similar to https://trees.stanford.edu/images/Koelreuteria/KOEbip-Rains-fruit.jpg).  On the other end of the spectrum some were dull brownish pink.  It was not clear if the brighter ones are an intentional cultivar or natural variation.  Seed was not ripe yet on any of them.

Does anyone have a showier form of this tree and could spare some seeds when they are ripe?

Steve
