Bismarckias in Morocco

Hi,
This morning, I took the car to go and pay some bill, only to find the place crowded with people ;
This is when I decided, after taking my queue ticket, to go pay a visit to some nearby Bismarckias  ;

Here's some pictures I took today (+older ones) of local Bismarckias :

3/ This is interesting : Some time ago, one of the palms planted here died, and was then removed ;
It looks like this death has pushed the gardeners to stop cleaning the soil around the palms in order to avoid disturbing the roots (it is quite obvious that this is done on purpose, the whole avenue is really clean, the only "unclean" part I could spot is this bismarckia group planting) :

Have you guys ever had Bismarckias die on you after disturbing the roots at the surface ?
I thought the tap root was the only root not to touch to avoid killing the palm, but it seems like I was wrong ? :blink:

That will be an impressive planting at the botanical garden.  They sure trim them up tight though...

Great photos. They should love the heat.
