Well, Steve, sorry I missed visiting.  My loss.   I had no clue where I was most of the time while in SD.  Everytime someone said the mountains were East, I had a brain block.  The ocean is East, dagnabit! Mountains--West.   Ocean-- Down East!    :D

Yours is one of the best desert-tropical gardens I've ever seen (in pictures)! The Braheas look excellent next to the agaves. Also I'm glad to see the Para Tor Tor's coming back.

Wow, what photos - and what gardens!

Pardon my total agave-ignorance, but what is the one in post #18?  Is it the same plant as in post #8?  It is drop-dead awesome.  How 'bout the plant in #28?

Hope I haven't gotten to this topic too late - would love to know what they are.

I will somehow bring Pamela Anderson in her Baywatch outfit if I can get one of those strictas!  No pictures required!

Awesome place.  Next time I am in southern California, I will find time to visit.  I wonder if I can get one as carry-on baggage??

I don't have any Agave Stricta...but I'll go buy one if it will be enough bait to get 'Pammy" over here...

Maybe it's the Yucca Rostratas that you're confusing with the Ag Stricta..?

I had to smile when I saw this.  I had the same disconnect when we moved from S. FL near the ocean, over to the gulf coast years ago ("whatcha mean we're driving away from the beach?!  We're headed east aren't we?" sighhhh)

Steve, thanks for the IDs - those agaves are really something to see!  The Celsii Nova is a real sight. And Matt, the photos are beautiful!

You are right.  I meant rostrata.  I love them.  They - and all the agaves - add such architectural detail to a garden.
