Darold Petty 2,643 Report post Posted March 14, 2018 I visited the Galapagos Islands on my most recent trip to Ecuador and decided to post a few photographs. I would encourage all readers to consider a trip to Ecuador. The country is safe, friendly, and well-organized. It uses American dollars for currency, following many years of disastrous inflation. The previous president, Rafael Correa had autocratic tendencies, but he did spend a good amount of the oil money on infrastructure. The roads are now in excellent condition. His successor, Lenin Moreno has proven to more respect democratic norms. Most all of the persons you would encounter speak rudimentary 'tourist' English. Ecuador has an enormous range of topography and habitats. After the islands I traveled to cloud forest, the closest analog to my San Francisco microclimate. I have traveled throughout the country on two trips but will limit the photos to the Galapagos. I was one month in the Sierra, climbing mountains and visiting the citys. Cuenca, Ambato, Riobamba, Latacunga, Baños, Quito, Otavalo.
