You should show some of the needle palms that were growing there in the 1990's.

The first photo is a shot of the under story of needle palms.  The next two are are needle palm seedlings.

Sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua), red maple (Acer rubrum), and tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera).  The picture is very blurry, and of course there are no leaves on some of these trees this time of year.

I did not take any pictures of Chamaerops.  You were probably referring to the needle palms (Rhapidophyllum hystrix).

A friend of mine was able to get better pics of the palm(s) in question. Not sure what happened to the second one, but the big one seems nice and healthy
