Ravenea Rivularis seeds info

Hello,

Ravenea Rivularis (AKA Majesty Palm) is avaliable for sale almost everywhere in the US or Canada, you can find it at Home depo, Ikea, ....... It is pobably the same in Europe, Australia and other places ... But unfortunately we can't find the seeds anywhere, I never saw them on RPS and any other seeds sellers !

Is it because no one needs the seeds and can easly buy many palms for a low price ?
Or because the seeds don't store well ?
Or we can find them easily and I'm just not looking at the right place ?

What do you think ?

Thanks.

The seeds have a very short shelf life.  From what I have been told, most wholesale growers will only take the seeds directly from the harvesters since the seeds are small only last a few weeks before viability begins to waiver.  The seeds also germinate very fast, so storing them in moss or other moist mediums can cause premature germination.

I've always wondered the same thing.  I've read where the seeds are difficult to locate, but obviously the growers know how to locate them.  Makes sense that they're easy and fast germinators since there are so many plants available!

Anyone knows from where the growers get the seeds ?

Maybe they have mature palms that produce lot of seeds, I have noticed that almost all of the palms in the stores had a label from florida...
I'm not sure but they are probably all imported from florida ??
