This puppy is for sale for 175 dollars and I would like to know it it is worth that much, They tell me that it is a Kentia Palm which to my mind translates to Howea Forsteriana

What think you? Is it a Howea Forsteriana and is it worth 175 bucks

Thanks

Yes it is a Howea forsteriana. The price will depend on its availability in your location. $175 is more than I would pay for that size here in San Diego. They do not grow quickly, so you are paying for the time invested in growing the palm to this size. In San Diego, they are commonly available, and for that price you would get an 8-ft.  triple in a very large pot (as measured from bottom of pot to top of tallest leaf, with at least a few inches of trunk).

They are not worth that here either. But it is worth whatever they can sell it for, and beauty is the eye of the beholder.

Value is a very personal decision.

Cheers Steve

It is not dead, it is just senescence.
