PSSC NOVEMBER 2017 MEETING

Recommended Posts

Our next meeting of the Palm Society of Southern California will be on Saturday, November 18, 2017.  The first garden is in the Point Loma district of San Diego (south of Mission Bay) followed by another garden directly above Mission Bay.  First we’ll visit the garden of Ann and Lee Cooley.  Their garden has a good assortment of mature Chamaedorea, Howea, Caryota gigas, Chambeyronia and Livistona.  There are no bathroom privileges at this location – PLEASE plan ahead.

The Second Garden is at the home Leland Fletcher. "Fletch's" garden is quite diverse with a good representation of Cocothrinax, Rhopalostylus, Sabal mauritiformis and many other genera and species. Bathroom privileges at this garden. We will be having our potluck and plant auction/raffle in Leland's driveway. Come, see the gardens, eat the potluck, donate/bid on plants in the auction, get a few raffle tickets. Auction proceeds are an important source of the PSSC'S funding. Please consider sun protection as Fletch's driveway is in the sun.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

The Cooley Garden is located at 850 ALBION ST, SAN DIEGO, 92106
Leland Fletcher's is located at 2731 PENROSE ST., SAN DIEGO, 92110

Once you are on Rosecrans, continue south for about 2.5 miles and turn right onto Talbot St.  Then turn left in 0.5 miles on Albion St.

Return to Freeway 5 north (reverse your directions above).  There is a Fwy 5 north onramp off the end of Rosecrans.  After merging onto Fwy 5 north, continue for about 2.5 miles and exit Clairmont Dr. east (same exit as Mission Bay Dr),  Go up the hill east on Clairmont Dr. for a bit over a half mile and turn right just before the shopping center on Fairfield St/Burgener.  Continue a very short distance and make your first right onto Field St.  In several blocks, this street becomes Penrose St. and the garden is a little ways down on the left.
