Below is a portrait of one of my needle palms, and it's not really happy in that spot. It's hard to give it the water it needs. Note the Shoe for scale, 12.5" 32 cm long.

It's been there for a year or two; anyone have experience moving these? I plan to put it in a shadier spot near a couple others and with a lot more water.

Thoughts?

Supposedly, they don't like their roots disturbed and are hard to transplant.  Try to get a sizeable root ball out of that spot if you're going to move it.

Yes, definitely.  They typically grow as understory plants and are happiest where it is permanently moist.

Rootball werent that big. Size ratio wise, the same as a washingtonia rootball.  Water,  water, water though.

Needle palm looks OK to me. These are not fast palms, not 800lb gorillas.

The garden of Doom, not sure how well they compost, those sneakers don't look like they compost well either. :D
