Phoenix Dactylifera Palm Trimming work_May 2017

Recommended Posts

Dear Friends,

Our date palm has been infested by termites and lots of small holes started appearing in the dried frond area of the palm,Inspite of spraying it with pesticides, the termites used to reappear after 3 to 4 months time.So we decided to clean and also trim this palm little more that the prescribed limit. So that the trunk may get ample sunlight and fresh air.So most of the dried left over fronds were all cut, their by discouraging re-entry of pests in the near future.

Stills and video of that work can be seen in the following post.

BTW. the Chain saw disc used in the angle grinder is from King Arthur's Tools : http://katools.com/

Love,

Kris.

I will have to get one of those Kris. I have been using a Saws All with a tree trimming blade. I need to tackle a Canariensis and could use a blade like that.

Dear Ed,

That chain saw disc is worth all the penny,As the cutting part of that disc is small there is no danger of hurting the main trunk area by mistake.Since its not as heavy like powered chain saw unit, one can cut the fronds and small branches to a precise & desired limit like an artist.

And also buy these dust protection mask and gloves,You are good to start with the palm cleaning process..
