How many transplants is too many??

Hi everyone,

I recently moved (again) due to job layoff just before Christmas and brought my smaller palms with me.  I was in USDA zone 9a (NW of Houston) and now am in zone 9b.  Most of these were newly planted at my old house and all are pretty common cold-hardy types which seem to transplant well including Phoenix silvestris, Phoenix canariensis, Chamaerops humilis, Livistona chinensis, and Brahea armata.  The Butiagrus nabonnandii and Butia odorata have actually been transplanted multiple times - 4 transplants to 4 different counties in 5 years!  I worked a contract position and have experienced more than my share of layoffs from "permanent" jobs!  The palms all seem to be doing well in spite of the mid-winter move.  My Butia odorata lost several leaves this past summer at my old place but is still cranking out new leaves.  The soil here is mostly sand so I was told that the palms will do well here but I'll need to fertilize more.  These palms have not been fertilized as much as they normally would in the recent past due to such short plantings (only 6 months at the last house).  Has anyone experienced this much transplanting?  I hope no one has had to relocate as often as I have!  Any advise about fertilizing?  I was planning to start fertilizing in March (2 months after the transplant) or should I wait?
