is that a monstrous Corypha utan?

In our intercontinental PRA last week ( see Ohana Nui subforum) in Peradeniya botanic gardens I noticed thanks to Ahamed this palm and wonder which species it can be? Corypha utan?
Strangely I don't remember having seen this tree in the previous visits!

looks like a Talipot, Leaf base and petiole armament same as what is here in Moose Land

Yes,it is a Buri Palm. I will search for a talipot palm still from my archives.you can see that fronds are deep green and are less massive in appearence and talipot retains more fronds of smaller length.

Do you see any yellow or ash colouration in fronds as in C.Utan ?

You can observe that the fronds are dark green in colour and the teeth(Spines) arrangement are small and less furious than what you find in a Buri Palm...

C.Utan is a monster palm throughout its life span.But talipot are beautiful only upto 10 to 12 feet..then they start to resemble a Sabal or a Borassus Flabellifier palm on steroids.
