Here I have 4 sporatically sprouts.  The largest germinated after about 10 weeks and the fourth (barely visible) just showed up yesterday!  Thanks Dave!

About 80% of mine germinated - 2 or 3 rotted out, and a couple still waiting.  About half have pushed the first leaf 1-2" tall.

Sure, but give the remaining seeds a squeeze. If they're still hard, keep waiting, don't throw them away. Some seeds take forever to sprout.

"Free Trithrinax seed"

Dave,

I just potted up my 2-year-old seedlings - they've got 3 leaves now and are doing quite well!  :)  I'm having some internet issues so I'll post some photos later.

I wanted to ask about the species - is it a hybrid or is it either brasiliensis or acanthacoma?  I can't tell the difference from photos I saw in Palmpedia, but it did say that brasiliensis has a white inflorescence rather than yellow and acanthacoma has a leaf much deeper divided, and much more glaucous (according to Nigel).  Both seem to be very cold hardy and attractive regardless of which one it is!

Recently moved all mine up into 3 gallon containers.  They are pretty slow growers overall, but tough plants.  Only issue has been snails/slugs liking to chew on new growth.

A friend of mine had been given seeds from my plant forelast winter, sowed them past fall and this spring they have already started sprouting. Moral of the story, don't give up on the germination of those seeds, as it can be very erratic.
