Purple petioles?

Pip

Recommended Posts

I've had a young Jubaea chilensis for about 10 years and planted in my front garden in 2010. This year I've noticed a stripe of purple in the petiole. I was wondering if this is unusual as there aren't any others at the same stage of growth close by I thought I'd ask here. Sorry about my bad photos but I think they still show what I'm talking about.

It is pushing its way out of the parenials and is almost up to my shoulder.
