Great thread / pics Paully!!! I was there but was a bit pre occupied. It's like I'm reliving it again.

The time you have taken to take the photos and post them for the PT community is significant and you deserve full credit for that!!!! The pics are fantastic.... This should keep Ed busy for a while!

I look forward to the rest of them..... We are about halfway I believe :yay:

After Harry's, it was time to start heading down the coast line, our next stop and home for night was Mission Beach, I love it. Just on the fringe of Mission Beach is Heinz he has a nursery and we always drop in to see whats new and say G'day.

I've got the airline miles, and have been a bit uncertain of where to make a first visit (of what I hope will be several) to Australia.  Notwithstanding that I have excuses to visit Costa Rica (the revived Wilson Botanical Garden), Miami (overdue for Fairchild and Montgomery), San Diego (the Center for Plant Conservation moved to the Zoo), Cairns looks even better than I'd supposed.

I'm envious of a huge Dypsis carlsmithii in the photo collection.  Mine's been in the ground for a decade, and has yet to develop a trunk.  On the other hand, it has that tidy habit of carrying its leaves fairly upright, and they're long, so it makes an impressive specimen even without the trunk.

Nowhere in Florida could a lipstick palm be outdoors at the airport.  Even in Miami, there's a need for quick protection on rare, bad nights.

Right onto Richies

So Richies place was a treat, we had met Richie last year up in Townsville for the Aussie palmtalkers day out, so it made sense to see his garden this year. Richies mum is a very keen palm grower and has done a magnificent job with how the garden has evolved into today, Richie certainly has the bug and is following in the steps of his mum. So here we go ...

Front entrance

Richie's mum got the seed of this baileyana and planted it 35 years ago, tough grower, it got run over by a lawn mower and has grown to perfection :D

Holy crap Aussies!!!

You boys know how to PRA for sure! I've visited Cairns and I'd move there in a second, for obvious reasons. I saw the lipstick palm used as a hedge, and I was sold.

Tropical, diving, and palm kingdom! Thank you for all your time to post. Every garden, private and public, are amazing! Things we could never grow, even here in Florida.

Cheers mates!

Right next stop George and Janes place, for those who remember Wal did a thread a while back of Georges place

http://www.palmtalk.org/forum/index.php?/topic/42796-jungle-garden-visit-airlie-beach-area/

Ok so we ended up leaving the caravan park and heading round to Richie's place to pick him up and head on over to Georges where we would also meet up with Andrew ( tropicgardener ) again apologies in advance for no IDs on the palms, so many pics to post

Sensational. Going to take me a month to process and work out everything in your pics. Some real nice palms not labelled in this thread. Some pretty nice loot too. I second the awesome distichas and baileyana.
