You may get rooted seedlings from Gillian. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lytocaryum-weddellianum-mini-coconut-various-amount/303024539262?hash=item468dab867e:m:mkzKLUF66Vm9VvoUJXOo49Q

I have bought weddelianum seedlings from him. I received them  in very good condition.

@KjellP Yes? The seedlings in this picture don't look good. I prefer to sow seeds. I have already ordered those from Madeira. :)

@Pal Meir Did the seeds before the spreading should be soaked in warm water?

I soaked the seeds for one day in c. 30°C warm water and then put them 1 cm deep into a pot filled with Kokohum; the temps of the substrate should be best between 25° to 30°C:

And I controlled the seeds once every day; beware of mould!

@Pal Meir My seeds are already in coconut fiber for a month. Like fresh, freshly picked from the palmtree, but they do not germinate. As I looked at the ground, 3 are a bit moldy.

@Pal Meir My seeds are in coconut fiber covered with a stringed bag. I have to ventilate them often, even for 12 hours because the surface from the very beginning, despite the strong squeezing of the water is too wet.

Here's an update on my beauty.

It still hasn't lost any leaves after owning for nearly two years and grows great all year round.

It even still has two leaves (two on right of picture) that I splinted after nearly bending in two to get in my suitcase! :-)

This has really sold me on procuring on of these, about the size you have Ivorhooper, for my new porch.  Now to actually find a vendor for one this size.

These are mine :) Slowly recovering from the old potting mix. There are 20 more seeds on a way so maybe I'll catch up with PalMeir in like next 10 years :D

A week later I have first germinations. I've planted them all to mix of Seramis and pine bark from Pal Meir's recipe. Hope they'll like it :)
By the way do you think I can stack couple of seeds in one small pot at this stage of their life? So far I've put 3 seeds in one pot. I do plan to move them to separate ones, but I just don't have enough place as of now.

@Reynevan I would only two seedlings plant together and place them as close as possible; cf. my »double coconut«.

Ok, I'll then fetch some 15 more pots for them. I have loads of seeds :P  I succumbed and bought Seramis + Pine Bark and it does seem to be great indeed. Hold moisture just like Coco coir, but does not clog up.

Is pot depth important at this stage? Pots i'm using due to the space problem are quite tiny. I'd like to grow palms to a decent 'tiny seedlings' stage, then move them to bigger clay pots, hopefully separately. Hope that keeping them in small ones while they're babies does not affect future growth.

Guys how do you control the moisture level in Pal Meir's mix? I have a hard time telling whether the amount I water is enough or not. I use Orchiata Precision- Seramis  in a 60%-40% ratio for my small Lytocaryums. Is there such a thing as too much water with this composition? Water gets out of the pot almost immediately after watering, I assume this means mix reached max moisture level and we're good.  Is watering them twice a week sufficient then? I tend to mist the leaves often too, it does leave some bad stain on leaves, and I am not sure if this is what I wanted to achieve. It is only about month or two since I repotted all My Lytocaryums to this mix, I see big improvement already but there's a room for improvement. I think I could use store bought bottled water with low mineralization  instead of tap one to get rid of white stain.

Thanks!

Rafal

@Pal Meir Thank you, your soil mix is brilliant.

I had 100% germination rate with this batch of seeds, that left me with 42 seedlings :D Now fast forward till they're 1 meter high!
