Central/South Florida Trip

Just took a trip down to Central and South FL. Thought I would share some of the palms and plants I enjoyed seeing. Stayed in Homestead, FL for a few days followed by a stop through Crystal River on the way back.

Was exciting to see the first tropical palms going down the state- found this drop dead gorgeous queen palm a little south of Orlando.

Found the famous royal palm in Homestead, FL that had a 2x4 wooden board hurled through it in Hurricane Andrew back in 1992. IMG_7026.thumb.JPG.62e5eecd64e3e7f8f0505

Collected some sprouted coconuts from this tree. Think it's a green malayan.

To-die-for Hurricane palm. This one has had impressive growth over the last several years.

Sabal palmetto in natural habitat: no need to transplant them in. These were already growing on property.

Looking good.  Sabals in landscapes are so often abused that we can forget how good they look when left alone, and healthy.
