Acoelorraphe is a very very good choice :greenthumb::) and yours look really marvellous! :wub:A. is also a most excellent indoor palm which can be kept in pots for many decades (if you don’t forget to give them daily lots of water :crying:).

It looks great! Totally the opposite of what I have mostly done.

You go to great lengths and work very hard to install gorgeous big palms. And like the newest Singapore Garden it shows!

I take a serrated trowel and dig a tiny hole for tiny palms. And then wait. And wait. And wait.

And plant more seeds in pots like I did yesterday. And wait some more.

Congratulations!

I'm on the same page as you with growing lots of palms from seed as well.

I couldn't believe how some of these bigger palms just fell on my lap so I scooped up the opportunities quickly.

Someday I will get to gardens by the bay :) Untill then I'll keep creating my slice of paradise:greenthumb:

Maybe that's for the 45 year-old Jubaea chilensis? :D

Awesome work, Josh!  Funny we don't see the A. wrightii in California much.  In Florida they might be rolling their eyes at this, but they are not at all common here.

I did not commit to a guess, because I was sure Bill S. was correct in his choice, though the size of the hole was inviting for a Jubaea, your list did not indicate a double-trunked specimen, thus the A. wrightii conclusion.  But you still have room!  And a big space for the almighty Jube! :D  Go for it! Or maybe you have a few already, I haven't kept up with this thread...  Next time Bo comes to San Diego, we are coming by for a tour.

Thanks David. :greenthumb:

like Kim said.. this may not be a rare palm but they are very hard to find here in California. Especially this size.

I have always admired this palm since I started to collect. It's nice to find big palms for the instant gratification look.

Yup, I was thinking of Joshs' new planting when I saw those yesterday!

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Now your place looks like a bank in Florida!

You're right, Dave. What is it about banks and everglades palms? Protection from fleeing robbers?

All kidding aside, that is a spectacular specimen of a palm that is due more recognition. Who'd have thought a FL native palm would be showcased in Josh's garden? I guessed Jubaea because I can't grow one and palm lovers in Cali speak of them with such reverence.

although Jubea was an excellent guess. That hole defiantly was big enough for a monster jubea.

That is an incredible plant. Jenny and I sat and enjoyed this one at the Huntington. I cant imagine the work it takes to dig one of them up. Very insperationel, with risk and hard work comes rewards.

I am afraid this palm will disappear very soon if you go there. It's so well matching with your first one :)

Yunder, you have to go to the UP AND COMING VISTA GARDEN thread for full effect.  It's truly unbelievable.

Josh, that little old lady probably thanked you when it took it away (minus the piece of her driveway ....ahem).  Awesome tree, but a bit too huge for the average suburban dwelling, I'd think.  In twenty years you'll have an absolute monster.
