      Why do foxtails have such a narrow wild distribution? Do cassowaries not eat them? They germinate like weeds at the house we rent north of Cairns, but nothing in our neighborhood disperses their fruit. Now that they are popular cultivation, are they spreading to the neighboring rainforest? Also, there’s this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Melville_incident
      Basically, I would like to hear anything y’all know about the discovery, natural situation, etc. of wild or naturalized foxtail palms.

      On PT I see all the stunning photos and descriptions of past and future travel with the International Palm Society.
      Here’s the group of us on the unforgettable Sarawak, Borneo pre tour in 2016.

      I recall times I almost did not sign up due to time, family and work constraints and costs involved.
      However every time it is only the trips I missed that I regret.
      And the friendships I have made across the world are at least as important as the sights and experiences.
      I took my first IPS trip using hoarded airline points through a country I had to find on a map (Qatar) to a place of my dreams (Thailand) in 2012, based primarily on comments by Palm Talk users I had never met.
      I am asking all of you now who have traveled anywhere on an IPS sponsored trip to post why you loved your trip(s).
      Photos always welcome, but not required.

      Morning walk on campus (JCU, Cairns). I Risked my life to bring y’all these photos: I surprised a snake and was bitten by every fly and mosquito at the university :-)
      Does anyone know what’s up with the yellow flowers that look like they’re coming out of the palm seedling?

      This elegant, fast-growing pinnate palm is a beautiful and easy choice for beginning palm growers. Seeds germinate quickly and seedlings grow quickly. My mother palm is 20+ feet tall and straight as a column. It has withstood lows down to 28.5F with only cosmetic damage and rebounds during warmer weather. If you want experience growing palms from seeds this is the one for you.
      Archonotophoenix alexandrae: 50 seeds @ $8.00
      Shipping = $5.00  in padded envelope. No shipping outside the US. No shipping to HI
      Total = $13.00
      Payment via Paypal. PM me if you are interested.
