Now that's a find! With nice trunk, that would be wonderful. Jeff - just out of curiosity, if you were selling one that size, how much would you charge?

But I wonder, what would they sing? I haven't the creativity at the moment to create those Lyrics. Something with Majesty and Landscaper truck and bumpity bump?

Hey Scotty i must say you got brains in your entire body.since

i was just calculating what price will this grown-up specimen

will be if purchased from a reputed nursery.and and how

much on transport charges to ones own garden location.

is it worth all that strain and for how much...

jeff can give an estimate..since the person who has left this behind for any one to take it.does not seem to be a Dum

kind of guy !

Scott,

At a wholesale price, your looking at about $10-$15 per foot over-all for a palm this size. So, $100-150 approx. Thats you picking it up with your truck at the nursery. Not bad I guess.

Christian,

This is actually 172 ave. which is the street my nursery is on. Hwy. #27 is about 1 mile further west.

Well, forgive me, guys, for my lack of humor in this matter, but I keep looking at the pic of that beautiful palm lying out there, and I fail to see what's so funny and entertaining.

Unfortunately, I am a 12 hour flight's distance from that palm; if I were a few hours drive away, I sure as hell would find some way to recover that beauty. :;):

Even though majesty's are pretty common here, one that price I would imagine would go for at least twice that if not even 500 dollars here.  I wish we had florida prices.

Jeff,  Is the palm still there?  If I were about 2500 miles closer, I'd drive over there my self pick it up

Hey guys one thing struck my mind due to our rubyz anger,

Jeff are you really close to this stranded palm location.then

one thing you could certainly do to that palm is to take him

to your nursery or home which ever is closer.and i know you

are well organised_that is you have all the tools & implements

or would hire them and save this orphaned palm for good !

Jeff think about it.since all of us are located long distance...

but you can make some arrangement for this lonely guy.

so just dig a pit for him in that place itself and place him there

if there are no legal problems to this option ?

lets us know what you are go na do about this orphaned

palm  :(

Hehe, you guys always looking a the $$ and not the palm...

I have an idea: Why not dig a hole and plant it in that site? Looks like the place is devoid of palms, and that palm looks happy overthere.

Put a nice caption saying something like "Life is short. Plant a palm. Courtesy of Int'l Palm Society"...

We'll see if it makes the news of the weird  :P

Do you think I could stash it in my Focus, hall it up three floors, and pot it up on my 5'x12' porch?

Too bad. I actually really like Majestys, even though you can get them for a dime a dozen at your local big box store.  I think if they weren't so common people might be more interested.  Come to think of it, I've seen very few actually planted out.

Jeff, Are you sure this palm fell off a truck and wasn't put out for the garbage? If this palm was bought from a nursery and lost during transport wouldn't the top be tied up and the root ball be wrapped? I don't see the signs of it being bought, I also don't see road damage on the top or trunk. Either way it is still a great freebee for someone and hopefully not the dump.

Jeff, you had to one up me and my thread on "neighborhood scavenger hunts".

Those itty bitty palms that I found crusing through my neighborhoods are nothing compared to that beauty you found. If I lived in the right zone I would be planting lots of majesties. They are really nice looking palms when they got trunk like that.

Boy- I wish I could find something like that around here..........oh well off to cruise the neighborhoods for more finds this weekend.............better bring the wife and kids or somebody will think I'm cruising around for nefarious reasons.

Actually.... The Lusitania sank even faster an more people died. But no majesty palms were involved. Thankfully. I have to assume the potted palms in the first class areas were probably Kentias :D

You know, with a few more "crys of help" we'll be up to 40 replies. So....come on,only a few more. :P  And then we can ALL lay it to rest !

Jeff,

Can you track down who picked up the palm and make sure they are taking good care of it? You might need to instruct them on care and feeding and make sure it is planted in a suitable location. Oh and maybe you could post some pictures of the palm in it's new home. Hire a private detective and if that does not work try posting a notice in the paper. Offer a large reward for information leading to it's new location.

ok I did my part. :P
