If the reason is the lack of sunshine they will stay juvenile in all eternity: It is dark and rainy and chilly (13-17°C) these days … :badday:

Here we are suffering the same problem right know. Last week my seedings enjoyed clear sunny days with 35ºC and suddenly, this week, the weather has changed sharply (even it's snowing a little in the surrounding mountains). Summer, come once and for all!

I can’t believe it, but it seems so that the leaf #10 will become (at least in the lower half) pinnate:blink: I’ll post a pic when the leaf has grown a bit more, :interesting: but the palm has to struggle with the German »summer« … :bemused:

This plant N°1401 germinated on 2014-02-14; so I think we may see the 10th leaf completely unfolded in August when it is 2½ year old … :interesting:

Your (supposed) hybrids are looking very similar to L insigne. And they seem to be happy! :greenthumb:

I made (once in the past) these statistics for the number of leaflets on the 1st and 2nd leaf of 75>74 L weddellianum seedlings:

As the pot of the biggest L insigne N°1401 was getting too tight I had too repot it from a 14.8x17.4 cm pot to a stronger 18x18 cm pot, using again my special soil mix for palms growing on rocky slopes.

Pic #1 and #2 show the healthy and strong roots, pic #3 the new home of the palm, pic #4 the components of the mixture and #5 the mixed soil, pic #6 the added mix still dry and #7 watered with water from an Odenwald fountain, and pic #8 the happy palm with its 10th leaf becoming pinnate.

#1 & 2: Healthy roots

Thanks to Croatian Summer I hope Ill have the next split leaf :)

Your summer is also so stormy and more like April? I thought you had fine weather there in SE Europe …

Now the palm looks very like a seedling of a coconut with its new »bifid« leaves. :P

This palm sp doesn’t get bifid leaves like cocos; the broad undivided leaf #8 got damaged by storm and became quasi »bifid«. But leaf #10 is now becoming pinnate, at least the lower half.

65 eophylls? I'm confused. I thought the eophyll was the first leaf after the seed leaf.

Oh noooooooo! The 1st line means »65 palms have an eophyll with only 1 leaflet and 3 palms a 2nd leaf with only one leaflet« and so on …

Looking very happy! :greenthumb::D I didn’t repot the other (remaining 3) palms. — They are suffering this »summer« from chilly nights and strong winds,  last summer they had to sustain 42°C and direct sun …

The above photo once posted by Caixeta was mislabeled (I think in São Paulo): It is not L insigne but the L itapebiense (= Syagrus itapebiensis) discovered in 2008 and first described in 2010. L insigne will get much longer leaves and become pinnate at a much later stage as an old photo taken by @Alberto (on 2014-08-01 ?) is documenting; I guess that the 10th leaf of my palm N°1401 will look like the one on the right side:

Mohsen, I think you mean your coconut which I guess might become pinnate with its 5th or 6th leaf when you can give it more direct sun. I had to wait 2 years and a half with my L insigne:asleep:
