The little palm that keeps on giving.  Areca vestiaria.

We all love the flamethrower and a lot of people also appreciate more subtle tones of others, but one or two weeks later Phhht, its all gone. Now look at the timeline on this baby.... so far. Will it ever be without colour? Three months colour in each leaf, crikey it looks to me like this baby will always be colourful and beautiful.

If any of you out there can grow this and are not, what are you waiting for?  Permission?  Ok, You have it, go get one. Oh yes, the disclaimer, What happens in Sydney Aus.  may not happen in the rest of the world.

Oh, and look at the growth rate of that Coleus too. In fact I may rip it out, who needs that when you have an ARECA VESTIARIA .

Cheers Steve

Me too.  I walked out yesterday morning to my Dypsis decipiens just beginning to open up a new leaf with the colorful pin-striping.  I never tire of this palm and am glad it is right up next to the front entrance to the yard.

That is a great-looking raphia Tom how long have you been growing this beauty these are great looking Palms I don't see very often I  have  a small one. I try to give it lots of water seeing how they grow next to  swamps. Never seems to be enough even in clayish type soil

Been in the ground a long time.

Never too much sun exposure or water.

In Summer I hand water the @#!% out of it.

I think it loves the clay as it can stay moist longer than draining soil.

Also have Raphia Australis and Sudanica in ground.

Spectacular Tim.  I'm going back to the old steady, but I thought the way the leaf is only partially opened at the top is a unique presentation.  I even had to share photos from a couple of angles.

Yours look nice and fat! Mine are soooo skinny! Probably a lot less soil than you have,  Jason.
