Alexandre var Beatrice King Palm

Recommended Posts

Briank

I have an Ecxess of Archontophoenix Alexandre Beatrice Seedlings.

I got about 100 seeds about 3-4 months ago, and they have grown into 4-5" seedlings so fast.   I have started this week to pot up in little half gallon containers. I will not be able to pot all of them up and I am only looking to keep 3-4 myself.

This King Palm is the large Smoth Silver trunk variety.

I am making these Seedlings available for free if anyone wants to Come by and pick up locally in San Diego at my house. I do not have time to ship.  If your interested Send me PM and I will give you my address.  I think there will about 40-50 available.  I have out 2-3 in each pot just to save room as I don't have tons of pots.

In about 3-4 months I will have a bunch of Tukeri available as well.

Have wonderful day and happy planting.

Might also want to add if you want to come by bring a small 1/2 GA Pot or even a med size cup or something. I have only so many pots and need to keep what I have.  They sell 1/2 or 1ga at Home Depot for .98 cents

Here is some pics.  I had about 100 approx. in this large pot, and about 3 days ago when the Sun started getting lower in the morning, started to burn some of the foliage.  I spent the past day or so,  re potting into 1/2 or 1GA pots putting 1,2, 3 seedlings in each in whatever pots I could find.  I imagine I wont be able to pot up all of them, so Im trying to pot up as many as I can.  And its going to be hard to find to many people to take em. So I probably will be throwing about 1/2 into mulch pile.

But here are some pics.  My Seedlings and what they look like full grown. Much better trunk and size than common Archontophoenix.

      Hello Everyone!

Had a question.  A while ago I bought 4 Chambey's, this was after I visited Dave's Garden in La Habra coincidently, as his are just amazing! lol.

I found a grower that had a bunch of 5ga's that were Sun Acclimated. Was important to me as I don't have a ton of shade and didn't want to watch them get all burned up coming from greenhouse.

Well I put 2 in ground last month no problem doing great.  Waited on the other 2 as I was thinking were I wanted to put them.
I had one that I got that was a little loose, as it had a small stake in the pot as it was bit top heavy, guess the roots had not set into pot or whatever causes that. Didn't think much of it I bought it anyways thinking I would just stake it when I put into ground.

Well I dug whole yesterday, and went to remove from the pot today but was having trouble. Noticed I couldn't even slightly pull from the base out of pot. So I started to remove some of the soil from the pot to losen it up.  I finally got it out of Pot and noticed this.  Looks like this is what happens when a Plant is grown in Pot to long?? The roots were not going through the holes at bottom, creating a Root ball around the bottom. I could not really loosen up all the roots or remove the soil they were firmly stuck together.  I did my best, and still put it in the ground, staking it and firmly packing amended Soil into the ground.
I am not sure if it will make it, or whats going to happen, but I will give it a chance in the ground, and let the Palm Angels decide I guess. Take a look and let me know what you think. Have never run across this before in any of the Palms I have bought before.

Cannot figure out how to rotate pics. They are upright on my phone.

With All that Fresh Rain yesterday, a Head cold could not have stopped me today from Diggin some holes I have been waiting to dig! I have 2 BIsmarkias I needed to put in ground and a Fresh Kentiopsis O. To put in the ground!! Courtesy of DoomsDave on the Kentiopsis! Its now in the ground! Found a half day sun spot for it!

With all this El Nino we are suppose to get, and this being my first Fall/Winter of planting palms, I have been wondering if getting all my Palms into the ground as soon as possible, or wondering if I should wait till after ? So  decided Ill put larger potted ones into the ground, and maybe wait on the smaller 1-5ga for spring!
In the past week, I have put 2 5ga Livistona Netida's into the ground, 2 Dypsis Pembana,  2-5ga Livistona's,  and a 5GA and 15GA Bismarkia's.. Figuring the water were going to get will help them the first season into ground.
      Still learning and having fun.
