Josh your place is looking incredible. I still need to find a weekend to make it out your way. You have that Medamia seedling waiting for me so that's a good excuse.

its been a while but I thought I would start to post a few more goodies I have been planting on my thread.

Today I planted a very different but unique royal for Cali standards. Roystonea Princeps does not come up for sale very often around here. this is a palm that is very different from the Cuban royal that everyone knows and loves. I'm very happy to have this gem growing at the fair view garden now :)

thanks for looking:greenthumb:

Yeah there needs to be more of these out there. I have two which are a good couple years from that size.  For me this one grows when the highs are lower than that R. regia likes. Nice palm

Real nice Josh, great addition to your garden!  Probably my favorite Royal.  Love that they have the nice royal look but are not quite as big.  Perfect for a small garden like mine.

Whoa that princeps is big! I've been trying to get one of those myself. Seems impossible to find.

for as many seeds as a royal can produce I sure don't know why they are so hard to find?

I wonder how many feet of trunk these need before they flower?

Josh, congratulations to find this one!

It looks like that it was about time to "set it free" - all the best with it under California`s sun!

best regards

Thanks Lars for you king comments, it now has a very good home and will be well taken care of. This Royal was begging to come out of the pot so badly.

Hey Josh, not intended to be a wet blanket or anything like that, but a genuine curiosity, How many or can you show any palms that didn't survive a transplant or planting?

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Excellent question Bill :greenthumb:

so far Bill I have had 100% survival rate. The to palms that I was worried about  was that HUGE  Ravenea madagascariensis var. 'monticola' and the big kentiopsis pyriformis.

both those seem to have pulled through nicely.

Steve that started the ( very, very long thread now)Cycad  cones and flushes ? and  Josh is catching up.

Immense project you've taken on  Josh, I know you'd be feeling pretty darn chuffed that your plans and action has and still will work out  just as you want it too. :greenthumb:   :greenthumb:

With yearly updates  this  will end up being the longest thread on Discussing PT's..

Keep at it Red Bull :)   Pete
