Hey all

Hope everyone is having a great growing season. We sure needed it after this crazy winter!

My Trachys are doing great. Had some minor damage, but a little pruning goes a long way. For you first time growers up north, it is possible to grow palms in NYC.

Trachys 4th year in the ground. If they could survive the last two winters they can survive anything!! Will be posting my new winter protection method in Dec, palms are to big to use old method.

Good luck & enjoy the rest of the summer

P.S. Anyone have a good place to buy mature Yucca Rostrada in the tri state area? Don't like shipping bare rooted? rather pick up in pot.

Thanks in advance

Robert

Robert it's hard to believe that you are in NY - could be the South of France

Have you tried any other forms of Trachycarpus ?

Robert the garden is looking great, what the heck is that cool green plant next to the banana? Almost looks like scotch broom but it can’t be that I’m sure.

Does your banana plant stay in the ground all year? So green!

There must be some value to being in the same borough as the New York Botanical Garden. I suspect the little Yucca filamentosa would be hardy up there. Mine are happy, but haven't yet seen fit to flower.

Central Orlando's urban heat island may be warmer than us
