If it can survive the next couple of days, it may enter a more favorable

environment for intensification. If the trough in the SEUS lifts out and strong high

pressure builds off the east coast, it may go into the Gulf

We are going to stock up on water and batteries just in case, too far out to know if Erika will stay together and get close to Florida.

Fill gas tanks & gas cans before everyone else catches on & lines up for blocks. Remember Port Everglades and Port of Tampa shut down in advance of the storm so tanker trucks stop rolling. Hard to prep or evac when all service stations run out of fuel. Surprising how many people wander around clueless until the last minute. News broadcasts may be depressing but in summer don't forget to check the weather daily.

The latest report now has Erika over SW Florida Monday as a tropical storm. That is assuming that it will actually survive the next 24 hours. I pray that no one gets hurt in this storm.

We woke up this morning to over 5" of rain in the gauge, a constant thunder and lightning display from at least 3am to 7am. Didn't sleep much. But no wind associated with this. And their forcasting another 2-5" for today.

About 3" of rain so far & no real wind. My 4 legged thunder alarm worked flawlessly last night.
