I picked these Chamaerops Humilis seeds last night but I'm not sure if I picked them too soon? I have little experience with Chamaerops seed.

I dissected the small one and found no embryo. Probably duds. Any input would be appreciated.

I think they're black or dark purple when ripe. A bit premature.

Actually Dave, they're ripe when orange. After that you can smell rotting fruit. Then they drop..

They should come off the tree quite easily when ripe. If you had to really pull or cut them then they are not ready.

Plant them and see. Nothing to lose, you can always reuse the planting mix.

Cool, thanks. Does anyone have a cross section view of a sliced humilis seed?

I appreciate it Neil. My seeds looked dried up inside. Now I know what they're supposed to look like.
