Alicehunter2000 713 Report post Posted February 26, 2015 Anybody got any info on these? Got to be pretty cold hardy considering the altitudes they grow. Maybe another Chamaedorea for 9a/8b climates?

JasonD 231 Report post Posted July 25, 2016 This species has been at the UC Botanical Garden in Berkeley, California, for a long time. It has survived several freezes there. I am not sure whether it survived the devastating December, 1990, freeze, when the lowest temperature recorded in the (very hilly) garden was 14F. But since then several freezes have dipped well into the 20s F, including in 2007 and I think 1998. If the top growth didn't survive, the stems grew back quickly from the base, for the plants are nice and full. The selection they have is very robust compared to one I have from a different seed collection (which plant has not been freeze-tested in its few years sitting in my back yard).
