Spring Palm Sale Set for March 28-29 at FTBG!!!
If you've been planning a trip to Minnesota for ice fishing at the end of
March, put it off. The South Florida Palm Society is pleased to announce
that its 2015 Spring Palm Sale will be held on the weekend of March 28-29
at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. This change marks the return of the
sale to its traditional month, following last year's steamy May weekend. Be
sure to mark your calendar with the new dates. And don't forget to come to
the Happy Hour on the evening before the sale. More information will follow.
All members whether you sell palms for a living or are a backyard
grower looking to find a home for some of your extra plants are invited to
become vendors at the sale. If you are interested in receiving an application,
please contact Lenny Goldstein (leonard.goldstein@hotmail.com).

I wonder if this is the same weekend as the Palm Beach Spring Sale. Does anyone have the dates for that sale?

As this series of posts indicates, there was uncertainty all around concerning the dates of the Palm Beach Society's Spring Sale. When the South Florida Society's board met to select a spring sale date, none of the board members mentioned the dates of the Palm Beach sale. What I think complicated matters is that the PBPCS sale doesn't occur on a fixed date, but rather varies with the weekend of Palm Sunday, so the dates didn't automatically pop into anyone's head. (Moreover, our choices were limited to three weekends, one of which was Easter.)

Our first awareness that there was a conflict did not occur until February 23, in an e-mail from Mike Smukall. By then, of course, there was no reasonable alternative available.

Fortunately, thanks to a recent posting, everyone now knows the dates of the Palm Beach Spring Sale several years into the future, so a repeat of this year's conflict can be avoided.
