I just came across this specimen and purchased it because I had never seen one so large, both in height and diameter of the trunk. Does anyone have any pictures of a similar sized specimen, or hopefully a larger one?

Wow!!!! You got a real beauty there. Congrats! I saw one larger at a PSSC banquet 2 years ago. But wasn't much larger. I will see if I can find a picture or the old thread from the event.

Wow - That is the biggest I've seen, including the ones at Fairchild that have been there many years.

How much was it, if I may ask?

There's a lot of time in that thing, particularly if it was raised to size in containers.

Nice one! I've been admiring two that size in a yard on the way to my nursery. They were dug off local private land many moons ago as tiny suckers.

That is a nice needle! I have one that might tie that one in size. I let it sucker though, so that might affect the main trunk's growth rate. I will dig up a picture and post when I get a chance. Again, you have a very nice palm!

I managed to talk the guy down to $325 cash for this beast. As soon as I got it I potted it up as it was extremely root bound. I now have it inside my high tunnel for the winter to help get the roots growing in preparation to plant in my palm garden next year. I'm fortunate to have located this palm let alone at the price that I managed to pick it up for.

That's a nice one! When you say larger specimen, do you mean potted or in the ground? I have seen many larger specimens in the ground. You got a pretty great price for that too!
