Here's a pic from today.

This coconut sprouted a couple of months ago.

I just transplanted it.

The roots were over a foot long.

Hello Jearl,
One little tip i can give you, Is to get bigget pot for your coconut Sprout, Since your current one is too small...
The root system should be all covered in soil, It's also important to make sure you have good drainage...
so the roots wont get rotten....In this courrent pot...it wont last for long....Take a look at my sprouts they
grow pritty well but they do need space....

Hello to all, nice sprouted coconut! Just remember to avoid direct sunlight. There is no husk to protect the seed and the sun would actually heat up the internals and leave cracks the nut.Mold and nature will be invited thus killing the plant .Happened to me before.

AWESOME video(s.) (Including his transplant video.) I really appreciated the fact parts were subtitled as I am deaf, of course.

I had no idea you could start them in water, and a baggie. I'll have to do this now :)

Now I just need to figure out how to find one that is viable (lots of water?) without hearing it sloshing inside.

I once grew an indoor coconut for 10 years... before it was taken over by mites and died.

Yes, I know that the pot should be much larger, but my goal here is a bonsai... coco bonsai. Since its going to be a house plant from Nov- March, the smaller pot makes it easier to move as well.

If it croaks....oh well, its store bought.... from a supermarket so the price was reasonable.

For those looking to grow huskless Supermarket coconuts. You'll need coconuts that haven't been refrigerated during storage. Asian specialty markets are the best place to find them. Look for the ones with a bulging eye.

Other than that... the video from youtube seems pretty accurate.
