At the first instance i thought it should be the Corypha_Lecomteii variety of the corypha species.but the leaf fronds are slim and tentelous as seen more in a Buri Palm.and the colour of the leaves to our eyes are more like bismarkia or better compared to a breha armeda.i wish to tell you that the still does not do any justice of the leaf colour's brilliance.

Love,

Kris  :)

Ok..........let me have a crack at this.........I didn't have time to read the entire thread, but it seems to me that if you can convince the guy to let you take a picture, the problem would be solved. I propose two things.

1. Hand him the camera and offer to let him take the picture. I have found that many times people are unsure of letting someone take a picture......but if they take the picture themselves, it is not a problem.

2. Give him cash to take the picture..........bribery can go a long way in these situations.

Hi Kris

Sorry I missed this the other day but I have a lot of work on at the moment and can only spend a short time on the board.

It’s good to see that a few gifs worked and they let you finally take a few photos your persistence paid off, big time!! :D

By the looks of the photos I think we are looking at Corypha macropoda! I bet there will be a few privet messages asking you for some seed make that more than just a few….

Your little one is growing so fast, if only they grew that fast here, very well done!

All the best and keep those photos coming. :)  :)

Dear Clayton  :)

thanks for visiting and even iam trying to get the seeds of this beauty..since to see this palm live,it is like Corypha Lecomteii crossed with a breha or a copernica hospita..

its a just out of the world kind of an effect....but its not as heavy or massive looking as its big brother Talipot palms..!  :)

thanks & lots of love to you & your family,

Kris  :)

Kris, any updates?

Hi :)

I have planted this palm in the ground but i could not ID this palm since in our roof top garden all the coryphas do look similar. And they have all that white waxy coating, and talipots & C.Lecomtei should have leaf colour more greener. But C.L are green, but talipots,Buri & c.macropodas all look similar. So i need some time on this analysis.. :)

When Fuji Jim asked the same question about the coryphas in his collection,i was bit baffeled, was it so difficult to ID.I must confess that even iam experiencing this same problem.

But i have tagged my barrels with their names...so lets see. :hmm:

For the moment,i will accept what 007 jeff has pointed out.

Kris,

Looks like Corypha umbrac. to me.

007

And here is a thread dedicted entirely to that mystery palm,it had grown too big for its barrel and its now in the ground..And kindly click on the link given below for upto date visuals..
