Antigua Guatemala

Recommended Posts

Antigua is this charming town less than an hour outside of Guatemala City. Complete with cobble stone streets, 500 year old cathedrals, volcanoes, art galleries, restaurants and tons of tourists.

We started at a posh neighborhood a five minute walk into the center square.

Walking the streets.

Palms along the way.

La Merced and Los Ticos, the day Costa Rica won one of the World Cup playoffs.

Hammer, Antigua is gorgeous. Perfect climate, markets galore, subtropical gardens everywhere, modern day Mayans and tourists' destinations and surprises on absolutely every corner. I wasn't even "taking pictures". I was there to spend the day with family and Antigua seems always ready to pose for the camera. If it's been a while since you've been here it's definitely worth another trip! Living in Guatemala sometimes I take it for granted. I love being a tourist here even though I've been visiting for more than thirty years and living here ten years on the coast.
