Great garden and impending palm forest!  I saw some discussion about Raphia back in 2016, did you ever try them at your place?

Thanks. In regards to the Raphia, no. I lost contact with Pedro. I did try some R australis seed but none germinated.

Im trying to grow things a bit more suited to the climate now. I’ve just planted up the lake bank with Livistona australis. They’re common but bullet proof, very happy and green all the time.

Will go through the garden and try and take some shots from the same sort of angles that the original garden shots in 2014 were taken. Some will be impossible to do exactly the same as there are now palms and foliage in the way. I've also got new palm gardens installed since the last lot of 2018 shots.

I did not see this thread!  Bravo tyrone, looks like a great start in a beautiful part of austrailia.  I'm sure this summer in Florida I will be thinking about "cool nights all year round".

I tried to do some before and after shots, with the before in June 2014 and the after being May 2020.

Here goes.

Some of the after shots aren’t that great or photogenic as I tried to take them from exactly the same place and angle as the originals. However some are blocked with plants that have grown or didn’t exist in that position back then.

I’m going to cut down some Eucalyptus on the island. They’ve throttled the island big time. I’m putting more Ficus macrophylla in as well. In fact I’ve been planting quite a few Ficus macrophylla var columnaris, the Lord Howe Island banyan tree. In a few years this will no longer be kikuyu infested paddocks but rainforest.

Thanks mate.

Yes. Will post some more tonight.

I wanted to put more before and after shots up but we got the sun in many of the after shots on the weekend so I will need to reshoot them again when there's less glare around.

I'm glad I started this thread 6 years ago. You don't notice the growth of your own garden over time until you look back at where you started. Some areas have completely changed.
