Great to match some faces with PT names and even better to see familiar ones from the Thailand Biennial! Not too late to register for Florida!

I look forward to even more photos since I have nothing at all like this ever in Virginia.

Here are a couple more photos from the show although I'm sure some better ones will also be posted.

and finally my spoils. Group photo of Lanonia dasyantha (looking for one of these for a while and found it tucked away in the middle of many other palms), Rhapis multifida (anything other than excelsa is pretty rare here) and Chamaerops humils var cerifera (again anything other than the usual humilis is a good find, in fact any Chamaerops is quite rare.)

My biggest steal was this variegated Rhapis "tree" for the princely sum of $45. The more discerning Rhapis collector might cherish the smaller bushier varieties but I'm stoked with this. I'd hate to think how old it is!

Here's a couple of pics I took.

Aussie way of selling palms and sharing palm tree advice, relaxed, don't worry, be happy.

Andy G and Newcal, and Roscoe from Rocky with some customers.

A few more....

The tension builds as we approach opening time...surprisingly the crowds were very well behaved and didn't flood through the door until they were told to do so...

Back to some more palm photos...

It is customary for us to take a wander through the actual botanical gardens and check out the growth of the palms there. Nothing like a bit of fresh air and peaceful setting to sooth the soul...

Nearby, there is this nice lawn area where they do weddings etc and it is surrounded by all kinds of Dypsis, as well as Livistonas, Archontophoenix and Carpentaria, Rhapis...what a beaut place to get married...

post-42-0-87026100-1394363929_thumb.jpg

There are many spectacular palms growing there...here Wal lends scale to this trunk base with his foot...any guesses as to what this? How thick are those roots!

post-42-0-31877800-1394363956_thumb.jpg

The same palm has a very robust trunk and long reins coming off the leaves...here Wal 'tolls the bell'

post-42-0-00359500-1394363940_thumb.jpg

Just past the sales area is a group of Pritchardia hillebrandii ' Blue Dwarf'...this one is really starting to colour up...surprisingly there were no seeds on these mature plants...

There's some common denominators with Aussie Palm People, they either love cars or music or both, most dig sports and anything to do with the sea and ocean, they love a country drive anywhere in Australia (preferably towards plants in habitat) but most of all, they have a wicked sense of humour, and of course they're all good looking, that goes without saying, too late, I said it. :laugh2:
