Worried about my Trachy...

Alright thanks...I'm still learning I guess...I tend to get bent out of shape over things that don't seem right. Haha thank you so much! I figured I'd share this with y'all, I found a 3-in-1 fungicide/insecticide/miticide spray at Walmart today, it's called Garden Safe Fungicide 3...I'm gonna give it a try and I'll let everyone know how it works!

Will do...I also bought a 3-in-1 insecticide/fungicide/miticide...should I also spray this on the fronds?

Yes, either, or. Just kill those scales!

You know what I would do with this Trachy? I would put it outside in the sun and walk away from it until you go to plant it in the late spring! The only time I would mess with it would be when it is definitely dry and its not going to rain the next day to water it, or when it is going to be around 14-18 degrees at night to take it inside for the night. The cooler temps will take care of any insects and it will toughen up out there. You may have some brown leaves (which you already have) but so what. It will grow new ones pretty fast once it gets in the ground and it is warmer. This is what I do with mine that are in containers. I have never lost one, they are pretty tough and will do better, overall, outside then inside. And I let them get pretty dry out there in the winter.

That's probably an oil based pesticide which won't be very effective on it's own and will only hurt adult scale on the leaves. Systemic insecticides make the entire plant poisonous.

I don't think they're scales, they're small holes with brown edges...and I wish I could put it outside, but it's about 5F out right now...and snow and ice forecast all weekend...

That is cold....but my point is that you are better off using the cold (as soon as you can) to kill any insects than using insecticides etc
